1. South University of Science and Technology of China (SUSTech)
Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering
The Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering at the South University of Science and Technology of China (SUSTech) invites applications for a number of tenured or tenure track faculty positions in all ranks. Candidates with research interests in all areas of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have strong commitment to teaching and demonstrated excellence in research. An earned doctoral degree is required at the time of appointment. Candidates for senior positions must have an established record in conducting globally recognized research and securing external funding.
Established in 2012, the South University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) is a public institution funded by the municipal of Shenzhen, a special economic zone city in China. SUSTech is a pioneer in higher education reform in China. The mission of the University is to become a globally recognized institution which emphasizes academic excellence and promotes innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship. The University currently has over 200 faculty members, and is planning three faculties: Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Life and Health Science. The target faculty number will be 200 for Science, 300 for Engineering, and 150 for Life and Health Science Faculty.
The newly founded Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering is one of the nine departments in the College of Engineering. The department expects to add more than twenty new faculty members in core research areas in Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering.
SUSTech offers internationally competitive compensation packages with fringe benefits including medical insurance, retirement and housing subsidy. Salary and rank will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
To apply, please provide a cover letter identifying the primary area of research, curriculum vitae, research and teaching statements, and arrange for at least three recommendation letters, all forward to email@example.com

About Complex Fluid Group
The Complex Fluid Group in Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering, SUSTech is led by Prof. XW Shan and A/Prof. P Yu.
Prof. Shan is current a Chair Professor and founder of Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineer, SUSTech (http://www.sustc.edu.cn/mechanics_faculty/f/shanxiaowen). He obtained B.Sc and M.Sc at Peking University, China, and then PhD at Dartmouth College in USA. In 1991-1998, he engaged in post-doctoral study in Dartmouth College, School of Physics and Los Alamos National Laboratory, Non-linear Research Center. In 1998-2005, he worked as the software designer in Microsoft. In 2005-2012, he worked in EXA in USA as Senior Supervisor responsible for developing the advanced physical algorithm. In 2012, he went back to China and worked in aviation development as Special Expert in COMAC and principal of BASTRI Pneumatic and Acoustics Research Team.
Prof. Shan has made great contributions to developing and applying Lattice Boltzmann Methods. The classic Shan-Chen Model is named after him. Even more, he has made outstanding achievements in plasma physics, MHD and computer simulation of turbulent flow, etc. Because of his excellent work, he was elected in 2009 as the Fellow of American Physical Society. He was selected in the 1000 Talents Program in 2012.
Prof. Yu is currently an Associate professor in the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineer, SUSTech (http://www.sustc.edu.cn/en/faculty_finder/f/Peng_Yu). He obtained B.Eng (1999) and M.Eng (2002) at Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, and then PhD at National University of Singapore in 2007. He has worked as a researcher at Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, University of Sydney, Data Storage Institute, Institute of High Performance Computing etc. He has more than 10-years’ experience in CFD (http://www.researcherid.com/rid/B-7942-2009). He was selected in the 1000 Young Talent Program in 2015.

University of Limerick, Ireland: Postdoc position ‘Mesoscopic Simulations of Multi-Component Liquid-Liquid Emulsions’
At the University of Limerick, Ireland, in the research group of Harry Van den Akker, Bernal Professor of Fluid Mechanics, a multi-annual postdoc position is available for simulating liquid-liquid emulsions by means of multi-component pseudo-potential lattice Boltzmann methods. In fact, the emulsions of interest, with droplet sizes in the range 0.5 to 5 micron, are personal care products on the basis of various emulsions chassis to which varying amounts of various fragrances may be added. The plan is to reproduce the flow behaviour and long-term stability of such emulsions as a function of their constituents. Also the processes used for manufacturing these emulsions will be studied. In the first instance, the position is offered for 11 months, with possible extension.
Application deadline: 01/08/2016
